About Balotsavam
Amaravathi Balotsavam - Children's Festival
The light of our eyes, the sparkle of our dreams our children are everything to us. Joy blossoms and happiness overflows wherever children are present, both at home and outside. On one hand, children’s talents, skills, and abilities are growing. New kinds of games, movies, and cultural forms are reaching them through mobile phones, the internet, and television. On the other hand, play, physical exercise, and manual activity are steadily decreasing. The struggle with books, rote learning of lessons, the battle of homework, and competition for ranks this has become the everyday life of schoolchildren. In today’s fast-paced life, human relationships have weakened. Family bonds and friendships are shrinking. The spirit of cooperation is fading. The feeling of helping elders and peers is declining. Even when children learn certain skills, there are very few platforms or celebrations where they can showcase them. Annual school functions are no longer being held in many government schools. With the shift from joint families to nuclear families, elders are either absent at home or, even when present, are unable to spend adequate time with children. As a result, opportunities for children to hear stories and conversations that build courage, valor, and a sense of service have diminished. Education is undoubtedly important for life. But children should study with interest, not under pressure and compulsion. There must be an environment that encourages their aptitudes, interests, creativity, and thirst for knowledge. A sense of social responsibility to give back at least a little to the society that gives us so much should grow. Caste and religious differences should dissolve, and a feeling of unity should prevail. Regardless of caste, religion, or region, we must pass on to the present generation the legacy of the freedom movement: that this is our India and we are all Indians. To nurture such broad-minded values in children and to encourage creativity, Amaravathi Balotsavam has been organizing children’s festivals every year since 2017
