History of Balotsavam – 2025

The 8th Children’s Festival, organised under the aegis of Amaravati Balotsavam, was held with great enthusiasm and grandeur from 9th to 11th December 2025 at Siddhartha College premises, Mogalrajapuram, Vijayawada. Schools from four mandals of Vijayawada city, along with mandals from NTR, Krishna, Guntur, and Eluru districts, actively participated in the festival.

A total of 194 schools registered, out of which 188 schools participated, achieving an impressive 97% participation rate. The festival witnessed 11,676 student registrations, with 10,629 students actively participating, reflecting a remarkable 90% participation rate.

A grand children’s festival celebrating talent, creativity, and holistic development.

Theme and Special Significance

The central theme of the 2025 Children’s Festival was “Let us protect the environment – for clean air and a better life.” This theme highlighted the importance of environmental protection and encouraged students to develop awareness and responsibility towards nature.

The main stage was named after renowned environmentalist Daripalli Ramaiah, a Padma Shri awardee known for planting crores of saplings. Naming the stage after him served as a powerful inspiration for students to contribute towards environmental conservation and sustainable living.

Students actively participated in science exhibitions, academic competitions, cultural performances, music, dance, and various creative events.

Competitions and Participation

A total of 60 competitions were conducted, including 43 academic events and 17 cultural events, across Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories.

Competitions were organised simultaneously across 15 venues, including:

  • 5 main stages
  • 5 open grounds
  • 5 indoor rooms

Out of the total participants:

  • 6,979 students participated in academic events
  • 3,560 students participated in cultural competitions

These competitions helped students showcase their talents, creativity, scientific thinking, artistic skills, and intellectual abilities.

Achievements and Highlights

A total of 83 schools won prizes, with 43% of participating schools receiving awards, demonstrating equal excellence among government, aided, private, and corporate schools in both academic and cultural categories.

The festival was graced by Honourable Shri Kandula Durgesh Garu, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Cinematography, Government of Andhra Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included former MLC K. S. Lakshmana Rao, Paladugu Lakshmana Rao (Secretary, Siddhartha Academy), Dr. Vasireddy Ramesh Babu (Founder of Balotsavam), and K. Yatirajulu Naidu (Prem) from Navaskandha Home for Generations, Bengaluru, along with several eminent personalities and representatives from various organisations.

Organisation and Support

The smooth conduct of the festival was ensured by the dedicated efforts of:

  • 49 organisers
  • 32 judges
  • Over 100 volunteers

Food arrangements were successfully made for nearly 16,000 people, including students, teachers, parents, judges, volunteers, organisers, and guests, reflecting the strong organisational capability of the Balotsavam Committee.

Conclusion

Amaravati Balotsavam – 8 was a grand and inspiring children’s festival that successfully promoted environmental awareness, creativity, and talent among students. The enthusiastic participation of thousands of children and hundreds of schools made the event a remarkable success.

The Amaravati Balotsavam Committee expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all students, teachers, parents, volunteers, judges, donors, and supporting organisations who contributed to the success of the festival. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to continuing this movement and appealed for ongoing support in future programmes dedicated to the holistic development of children and the creation of a better and more responsible society.
